This year the Blue and Gold banquet will be held at the West Springfield HS Cafeteria.
The theme will be Chinese New Year. We will have food catered from Asian Delight and some drinks are provided. You may bring extra drinks if you wish.
Please let me know now how many scouts, siblings, and adults you plan to have attend.
Cake Contest:
The theme of the cakes will be China/Chinese New Year (The Year of the Rat). The categories this year will be:
1. Best Overall Cake
2. Best Dragon Cake
3. Best Rat Cake
4. Most Humorous Cake
5. Most Creative Cake
6. Best China Themed Cake
There will be only one Best Overall Cake prize. In the other categories, there will be a runner-up and first place prize. The cakes last year were amazing and I look forward to what everyone comes up with this year. We came up with more categories since there were so many great cakes last year. Below are the rules of the contest:
1. The cake must be a homemade (not store bought) cake that is baked, designed, and decorated by the Scout and a parent using the theme of China or Chinese New Year.
2. Only one cake per Scout may be entered in the contest. If you have more than one Scout in your family, each Scout may enter one cake of their own.
3. The cakes must be brought to the West Springfield High School cafeteria between 3:00 - 4:00 pm the afternoon of the banquet. Any cakes brought in after 4:00 pm will not be entered into the contest. Please make sure to get the cake there on time.
If you are unable to bring in your cake between 3:00-4:00 pm., please ask someone in your Den or in the Pack to bring it in for you. I need time to set everything up for the judges before the bridging ceremony, so please bring in your cake before the cut-off time. The cakes will be displayed for everyone to see during dinner. Before dessert, the winners will be announced.
